Brian Benfer

The main foundations of Brian's work is  documentation of events and experiences and personal interaction
memory, time and the physical remnant that exist from experiential sitiuations
He uses many types of materials from paintings, prints to installations and videos
regardless of the materials he uses residue seems to be the essence of all of his work.

From the statement i would feel Brian's work would more represent my own personal work
as memory/time plays a rather large roll.

work in progress

This is a connecting Two piece that I may be using in our exhibition, it is currently unfinished.
(top photo):
The rock is bisqued fired and I don't feel the need to glaze it as i like the earthy naturally feel of to it, I intend on trying out glaze tests to insure myself that there is no need to glaze the rock.

(bottom photo):
A transparent glaze has to be added to the pink sliped piece, i will be adding a college of decals so i feel
the decals would look better on a shiny surface.

I like the flowing sensation, and feel it represents the cold exterior vs the warm interior that i am trying to portray along with the father daughter memory.

Susannah Biondo

Susannah Biondo

Susannah used heat and light within her work and used the concept on containing them
Susannah used heat and light within her work and used the concept on containing them
  • large scale
  • fires outdoor as a public display
  • Photo projections
  • mainly is in responce to the area they are created

I find Susannah's work to be very original and differant from the many i have seen
I like how she uses her firing techniques also as a display.
I think feel Susannah's work represents or could influence anyone within the ceramic group. I do however feel the most of the class would enjoy her work.

Old Idea

This vessel was the start of an old funtional idea i had for my finished
piece. The orginal idea was to make a mold of the vessel and produces multiples
which each container representing a stone on a wall, the viewer would become involved
with the simple task of writing a memory they had shared with a loved one and
placing it inside one vessel, After making the base material i needed i no longer decided
to use it as the texture i wanted to have would not produce a correct mold because of the lips.

Glaze: This glaze is green to black where applying more glazes the darker
it would appear, although the glaze does not fit the colour pallet of my
self-directed project i still like the natural look and intend on using it in future work.

Decal (samples)

Sample Decals purchased via ebay
I thougt it would be a good idea to try out sample decals to avoid any error in my final work

progress

etching into rock and added black/grey slip
This is an image that i intend on using in my personalized decal work
its and image of my father and I at a wedding some years ago
I had chosen this photo because i think it captures the relationship that i have with him.

Black clay and textured
I enjoyed using this clay, found it quite messy, but happy with results
I feel i has more of a rock texture and look to it rather than dry glazes

Trevor Bennett

Trevor's work has a humorist absorbed by the hierarchy of image and the consequences of arrangement and installations. He moves in and out of identificatble repredentatior their impact on narrative and composition changes. absurdity is embraced as a celebration of humour and unpredictability. The colour he uses is flamboyant and fun. The space between each sculpture is what he seems to be truly exploring and as a result of this question arise to him regarding narrative and context.
I don't feel Trevors work relates to anyone in particular.
